Kick Down 61 “RETALIATION” once again packed the Red Lion with eager fight fans ready for another explosive fight card. With 10 fights on tap, MMA enthusiasts were in for a night of great entertainment.
Louise Johnson and Leslie Smith stepped into the cage as the main event of the evening and at stake was the professional Kick Down Women’s Bantamweight Championship.
Both women began round one with a slug fest as Smith threw a variety of strikes and kicks to keep Johnson guessing where the punishment was going to come from next.
Smith took the opportunity to lock in a tight guillotine. Lacking oxygen, Johnson worked diligently to free herself from the grip of Smith.
The hard work paid off as Johnson escaped to quickly move to the mount and immediately followed up with some ground and pound.

Round one ended with both fighters exchanging numerous strikes leaving the crowd in a frenzy.
The fighters came out in round two with the same fire as if they just entered the ring. Smith threw a flurry of strikes followed by alternating head kicks, but Johnson found a break and landed a big take down.
The take down was short lived as Smith quickly worked to her feet.
Johnson once again wanted nothing to do with a standup battle and worked another take down proceeded by vicious ground and pound to mount.
Johnson continued to dominate on the ground displaying her arsenal of strikes and moving to back control.
Johnson promptly took advantage of the situation and locked in the rear naked choke with plenty of time left in the round.

Smith continuously worked to unlock the arms of Johnson with little success. Smith having little time left does what she can to gain that extra breath, hears the ten second knock.
Smith continued to try to improve her position as referee Curtis Thrasher stopped the action do to the sound of the bell.
Round three began with a take down by Smith. Smith immediately moved to her ground and pound. Johnson did a great of neutralizing the majority of the strikes from Smith. Smith continued to bring the pain in a variety of fashions.

The ref called a halt to the nonstop action 4:16 into the 3rd round do to a severer injury to the left eye of Johnson.
Smith won her pro debut and became the Kick Down Women’s Bantamweight champion.
In the co-main event Jack Johnson faces up against Santana Martinez. The fighters began with a feel out period as Martinez gained his confidence and decides to take this fight to the ground. Johnson used this as an opportunity to sink in the guillotine.

Martinez slams Johnson to the canvas releasing his grip. Johnson worked robustly to improve the situation, gains side control and works a forceful ground and pound.
Johnson proved to be too much for his opponent and moves to the more dominant mount position, continues to pound Martinez and cinches in the match ending rear naked choke at the 2:51 mark of round one.

Chris Dollbaum put his amateur Kick Down Light Heavyweight title on the line against the more experienced Chris Holland.
Round one was a great action packed round with back and forth striking. Both fighters were eager to end the fight early.

Holland started round two with a short lived take down. Dollbaum began to take control of the more muscular man with his dominant ground game and superior take downs.
Dollbaum continued his dominant display of ground control and punishing strikes as if he was a cage fighting veteran. Dollbaum would inflict damage at will; from side control to mount Holland was in need of an answer to the punishment.

Dollbaum wasted no time in putting the fight back on the ground which seemed to be his comfort zone to start the 3rd round.
Once again Dollbaum continued his domination from side control to mount to back control keeping his opponent on the defense and wondering what was going to come next.
Dollbaum put an end to the match up 2:17 into the 3rd round by rear naked choke as he continues to show more skills every time he steps into the cage.

Mike Van Houten defeated Kevin Silva by rear naked choke 2:11 in round one.

Shane Johnson continued to great skills and cage domination as he defeated Mike Toland by rear naked choke 1:29 into the 1st round.

Tyson Reeves defeated Tyrone Wright. Wright could not continue after the first round due to a rib injury.

Brandon Goshorn defeated Olajuwon Rodgers by unanimous decision.

Byron Sowell won a unanimous decision over Ben Bradley.

Gabe Gonzales defeated Robert Sargent by strikes 1:41 into the 1st round.

Adam Johnsen defeated Justin Hueske by guillotine choke 1:38 of round one.
