With a jammed packed house at the Broomfield Event Center the Ring of Fire started the New Year with a vengeance.
Ring of Fire 33 – ADRENALINE lived up to the hype as it was a great night of fast paced action with not one fight being left in the judge’s hands.

In the main event we had a battle for the ROF 135 LB title between TKO champion Noah Thomas and the accomplished Justin Robbins.
Both fighters began by sizing one another and taking a brief moment to get acquainted.
Robbins attempted an early take down, but was met with a solid left knee. Thomas quickly followed up and applied a guillotine choke to end the bout at 1:29 of the first round.
In the co main event of the night, the ROF 135 LB Women’s Young Gun Championship was on the line.
ROF standout Cat Albert stepped back into the cage to do battle with Angela Samaro of California.
This was a great fight for the fight fans in attendance as the action went back and forth.
These women left it all in the cage as they exchanged submission attempts and reversals along with punishing knees and strikes.

Referee Curtis Thrasher had to call a halt to the action along the cage when it appeared that the Colorado native Albert landed an illegal kick to the head of her downed opponent while working towards a heel hook submission.
Both fighters were brought to their feet as the action continued with Cat walking down her opponent looking for an opening.
Samaro looked determined and ready to begin the action, but quickly tasted a few solid shots from Albert as they gradually tangled up along the cage throwing knees and working for the takedown.
As the round came to an end, Samaro sunk in a guillotine choke but it was very short lived as the round ended.
It was Samaro whom took control early in the 2nd round as she delivered a brutal slam along the fence but Albert quickly reversed and found herself in side control along the fence, but with a lull in the action they were forced to stand it back up.
The fight quickly went back to the ground where Cat found her opening and sunk in the anaconda choke at the 3:40 mark in the second round to capture the ROF Young Gun Championship.
Brandon Thatch came to bring the RUKUS and figured to pick up a belt in the process as he battled Utah’s Mike Arrant.
At stake was the ROF 170 LB Young Gun Championship and the overwhelmingly good feeling of winning in front of your home town fans.
Thatch, the son of legendary martial artist Clarence Thatch took just 18 seconds to destroy Arrant with a devastating right kick to the head of Arrant sending him to the canvas.

Thatch, like a lion tasting blood followed up with a quick combination of strikes to his defenseless opponent prompting an immediate stoppage. Rukus continues to bring the house down each time out and makes it look easy.
Jamie Schmidt and Tyler Toner were in a battle for the ROF 145 LB Young Gun Championship and quite possibly “fight of the night” honors until an inadvertant strike to the back of the head of Schmidt ended what was shaping out to be a very good fight.
This fight was full of “ADRENALINE” as the first round was a back and forth ground battle with Schmidt seeming to have a slight advantage due to his ability to control Toner on the ground and quickly reversing any attempts made by Toner.
The second began with Schmidt looking for the leg kick but slips to the mat and Toner quickly attacked with strikes but unfortunately during the course of action Toner landed an unintentional strike to the back of the head.

After the doctor’s examination, Schmidt was unable to continue and the bout was called a no contest. This led up to the mention of a rematch come April. We can’t wait to see this one happen again!
Andrew Chappelle defeated Justin Salas utilizing his 10 years of Brazilian Ju-jitsu experience to out whiz the very well rounded Salas.

Chappelle locked in a Triangle choke to make Salas tap at the 2:06 mark of the first round.
Brendan Schaub made short work of his opponent Alex Rozman. Rozman was the much bigger man in this fight and had plans to test the jaw of Schaub and looked to out muscle Schaub with his strength and size.

The fight was on the ground immediately with Schaub in complete control looking to better his position he took Rozman’s back and began landing continuous strikes forcing the referee to call a halt to this fight just 1:23 into the first round.
With his athleticism and top notch world class training partners like Shane “MONSTER” Carwin and Duane “Bang” Ludwig, Schaub has all the right tools to become a serious force in the world of MMA.
Joe Kelso and Brian Wood were engaging in a great battle for two straight rounds.

Kelso came out victorious as he locked on a tight triangle while landing overwhelming strikes and elbows to the head of his bloodied opponent. The referee called a stop to the action 3:07 into the second round.

Cody Frederickson defeated Ramico Blackmon by Rear Naked Choke at 2:35 of round 2.

Chris Holland defeated Chris Williamson 2:59 in the second round by TKO.

Matt Simms defeated Dan Craft by Arm Triangle :47 seconds into round 1.

JJ Mondragon defeated Hector Salliant due to strikes. Mondragon landed a beautiful straight right to end the fight in a very quick 15 seconds.

Ken Kreuscher defeated Brian Marneck by strikes 2:20 into round 2.

It was definitely a good way to kick off the New Year in Colorado MMA action. Looks to be a very busy year across the board with local promotions from Pueblo to the Mile High City putting on shows monthly!
