Local fight promotion, Rocky Mountain Bad Boyz invaded Red & Jerry’s once again last night with yet another standing room only event as four titles were up for grabs and a host of amateur bouts to fill the appetites of the hungry fight crowd at “MMA Madness”.
In the main event of the evening, Jonathon Nunnery and Angelo Duarta locked horns in a non title bout. Duarta wasted little time as he struck first landing a couple leg kicks then shooting for the takedown.
Duarta moved right to side control and started working towards the head and arm before both fighters came to their feet. Both fighters felt some comfort on their feet as they let the strikes fly.
Nunnery took a moment to shoot in for the single leg and Duarta wrapped the neck for the guillotine but Nunnery felt the submission attempt and quickly slid out.
Nunney found himself in the north south position after the escape and locked in an anaconda choke forcing Duarta to tap at 2:34 of the first round.
In the co-main event, Ryan Martinez and Omar Belaal matched up for the RMBB Super Heavyweight crown. Martinez wasted no time in taking the fight to the ground after a few good leg kicks from Belaal.
Using his power from side control Martinez locked up his arms in a strong komura attempt and with the dominant wrestling, submission attempts and a brutal GNP background Belaal felt the ground was no place to be in this fight and worked to regain his footing.
Martinez came to his feet as well, holding his opponent from behind in the bear hug. The crowd felt it coming rising to their feet as Martinez used an old school wresting technique known as the “SUPLEX” by lifting Balaal over his shoulder and driving him to the canvas with his weight on top.
With a good two-sixty and the force of a rhino slamming Belaal from over 5 feet in the air he had little chance to respond.
Martinez followed up with a few good right hands and the ref called a stop to the action at 54 seconds of the first round.
Martinez retained his RMBB title with the TKO victory.
CJ Martinez and Randal Schuckman entered the cage for the 125 lb RMBB title. Martinez started out with a spinning back kick that left him on the ground and Schuckman immediately jumped on for the guillotine.
Martinez did a great job of avoiding the submission and the ref brought the fighters to their feet due to a lull in action. Schuckman once again went right in for the takedown.
Leaving his neck exposed Martinez locked it up with a guillotine and pulled full guard. Holding on tight, Martinez squeezed on the neck pulling his arms up and arching his back till the ref called a stop to the fight.
Martinez was declared the winner by guillotine submission at 1:36 of round one and claimed his new 125 lb title.

Eric Moya and Anthony Werner fought for the 145 lb RMBB title.
After a solid first round which went back and forth with each fighter looking for the other to make a mistake, it was Moya that prevailed by triangle choke at 1:42 of the second round to become the new RMBB belt holder.

Ricardo McKeney wasted no time in his victory over Victor Gomez as he clinched up for instant engagement landing a knees and taking the fight to the ground.
During the takedown McKeney latched onto Gomez’s neck for the guillotine, and at 31 seconds of the first round McKeney was declared the winner by way of submission and took home the 155 lb RMBB title.

Doug Saiz defeated Nate Buschman in a 3 minute slug fest with fans anticipating the KO. Both fighters held their ground as they delivered and received punishing strikes.
At 2:59 of round one Saiz postured up and rained down a flood of strikes for the KO stoppage.

Adrian Prospero defeated Nick Dibiase in a three round brawl that went to the cards. Both fighters left it all in the cage but could not find the answer to finish off their opponent. In the end it was Prospero that won the bout by unanimous decision.

Jay Kats defeated Nic Street at 1:55 of the first round. Street started out looking very promising before receiving a leg injury during a takedown. Kats rolled him over after the takedown and started to begin a GNP attack before the tap.

Josh Golderger defeated Jake Thompson by RNC in 55 seconds of the first round. Golderger worked the ground like a BJJ expert as he made numerous transitions from takedown to side control then a quick scramble to back control before finishing off with the RNC.

Martial Frindethie defeated Husan Albarq with great boxing technique landing countless left jabs using his height and reach to his advantage.
Frindethie found his mark at 2:33 of round one landing another textbook jab while Albarq was stepping in for a powerful shot.
Findethie performed like a veteran in the cage picking his shots while staying away from his opponent but this was his first time entering the battle grounds and walked away with a victory by TKO.

Brandon Hall defeated Zac Walsh by KO. Hall landed a beautiful spinning back fist that landed with the elbow instantly knocking out Walsh at 2:33 of round one.
The beautiful ladies of the Denver Dream Lingerie Football League were in attendance to promote their upcoming game on September 18th versus the LA Temptation at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

Rocky Mountain Nationals October 30, 2009. This has to be one of the saddest shows I have seen, and I got to see it for free so what did I expect. It should have been called star of mma because only jeremy horn was there. Joe trujillo sucks, and has one of the worst records ever. They will let anyone in the ring. It had only a couple of barely heavy weight fights. Brian Cristina, nice name, got knocked out in one punch who the hell is his trainer. No one wants to see a bunch of 155 midgets pump up their chests, it is boring. Where are the heavyweights. Better start copying the UFC because you guys at Rocky Mountain Nationals blow.
